Janjivan Bureau / PURNEA: BIHAR ELECTION 2025: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Today claimed that her party was now fighting the same battle against the “Modi empire” that Mahatma Gandhi once fought against the British imperialists.
Addressing back-to-back rallies in Bihar’s Katihar, Bhagalpur, and Purnea districts on Saturday, Vadra claimed PM Narendra Modi was not maintaining the dignity of his post by using words such as ‘katta’ (country-made pistol) and ‘donali’ (double-barrel gun) during the election campaign in the state.
“The battle that the INDIA bloc and Congress are fighting today is the same battle that Mahatma Gandhi once fought against the British imperialists. Even today, we are fighting for your rights and the truth. Even today, we are fighting against an empire, which is the Modi empire,” she claimed.
The Congress on Saturday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “distorting” history and insulting India’s founding fathers, including Rabindranath Tagore, while demanding an apology from him after he slammed the opposition party over the dropping of stanzas from “Vande Mataram” in 1937.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh shared pages of Tagore’s biography in Bengali, where he suggested that the first two stanzas of “Vande Mataram” be adopted as the national song.
“Here are pages 110-112 from vol 4 of the authoritative biography in Bengali of Rabindranath Tagore titled Rabindra-Jeebanee by Prabhat Kumar Mukhopadhyay, published by Visva-Bharati in 1994,” Ramesh said in a post on X, while sharing the pages.
