“All the samples are of different batches. The food safety lab has been instructed to give the reports at the earliest, though normally it takes 14 days. They are being tested if they contain lead and monosodium glutamate (MSG) beyond permissible limit,” food safety official Sudama Prasad said.
If more lead than the permissible limit is found in any food product, it can cause gastrointestinal problems and make digestion difficult. More than permissible limit of MSG, a taste enhancer, can cause hypertension, nausea and give rise to vomiting-like tendency, said Archana Mishra, dietician with AIIMS-Patna.
